Ever since its establishment under the aegis of Lord Buddha Educational Academy Ltd in 1997, NGMC has been able to institutionalize its name among the prestigious medical colleges of Nepal and outside. This Medical College has campuses in three places. The Basic Science Campus is at Chisapani, an eye-soothing place at the foot-hill of the Himalayas. The Main Teaching Hospital is in Kohalpur, Banke by the side of the East-West highway. The Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital, offering highly specialized and sophisticated services such as Plastic Surgery, Neuro-Surgery, Cardiology, and Urology, among others is close to the Indian border (Rupaidiya, Bahraich, UP) and is only 180 kilometers from Lucknow which is connected to the college by a highway.The Medical College is affiliated with Kathmandu University and is fully recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and Srilankan Medical Council and figures in the Medical School directory of the World Health Organization (WHO). The MBBS program at Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) is affiliated to Kathmandu University. Students will be admitted on the basis of Merit after central counseling at Kathmandu University School of Medical Science (KUSMS) Dhulikhel, Kavre Nepal.Admission procedure for Foreign CitizenForeign citizens seeking admission in the MBBS program must apply with scanned copies of the mark sheet of 12th grade and Citizenship/Passport. Those candidates must appear in the Medical Education Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Medical Education Commission.Medical Education Commission may allow admission of Indians if they have passed an entrance test of MBBS or BDS in their country directly without taking combined entrance. However, usually the foreign candidates have to take the common entrance test for admission in the medical college in Nepal. August is the usual month of admission, but due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the time of the admission may change.

Eligibility Passed 10+2 Science or equivalent (with Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with 50% aggregate in total marks or GPA 2.4 Or Secured the Percentage equivalent to above eligibility in regards to the certificate level programs (A-Level) with different grading system. Applicants who have passed the Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level /Diploma (General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Radiography, Physiotherapy) containing Physics, Chemistry and Biology with Certificate of Equivalence to Grade 12 Science program from National Examination Board AND c. If a student fails to score a minimum of 40% marks in the internal assessment or a minimum of 80% attendance, he/she will not be eligible to appear in the university exams as per university rules. The pass mark in the university exam is 50%. University examinations are basic medical sciences which are held at the end of the first and second year. The students have to qualify and clear all the subjects in four (4) attempts. Students failing to do so shall be debarred for the further student as per university rule. Students appear in third MBBS examination of community medicine, forensic medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology in 7th semester. The students can take the final MBBS examination of the K.U. only after they have passed the 3rd MBBS examination.

Efforts are underway to get more international recognition, including recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI), Medical Council of Malaysia, and medical councils of other SAARC countries. On average, 90% of our graduates pass the MCI screening test on the first attempt. This reflects the quality & standard of education provided by this college. Kathmandu University is an independent non-profit and non-governmental educational Institution. The executive Council of Kathmandu University granted permanent affiliation to NGMC in April, 2004. CTEVT Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) offers Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) Nursing Program (also known as Staff Nurse Program) in affiliation to Centre for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). Nepal Medical Council Nepalgunj Medical College is recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and the Government of Nepal. Most Nepalese graduates of NGMC who appear in the licensing exam of Nepal Medical Council have qualified and received approval to practice in Nepal. Sri Lanka Medical Council Nepalgunj Medical College is fully recognized by Sri Lanka Medical Council. Nepalgunj Medical College is listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools. NGMC graduates are eligible for the qualifying examinations worldwide. Sports We have made sure that sports and physical activity are given due importance along with academics. To ensure this, football, cricket, basketball and volleyball grounds have been constructed in close proximity to the education blocks at both Chisapani and Kohalpur campuses. Additionally, indoor recreational facilities have been established to cater to the needs of students. In collaboration with SWC, the college hosts an array of annual sports competitions. These events not only provide students with opportunities to unwind but also foster teamwork and a sense of camaraderie among them. Extra-Curricular Activities Extracurricular activities play a vital role in shaping the overall personality of students and breaking the monotony of classroom learning. We, at NGMC, understand the significance of extracurricular activities and encourage our students to participate in various programs beyond the curriculum. We associate ourselves with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to organize health camps, which provide valuable exposure to our students. By doing so, we aim to create well-rounded individuals who are equipped to face the challenges of the real world. Vacations/holidays On-campus stay is mandatory for all students at NGMC. However, in exceptional cases where a student needs to return home, they must obtain prior approval from the principal by submitting a letter from their parents. The student must also inform the hostel warden before leaving the campus. This rule is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of students, while also maintaining a conducive learning environment.
