Message from Academic Advisor

Greetings to all,Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) is proud of 25 years of untiring efforts to improve the health sector in Nepal. Ever since its establishment under the aegis of Lord Buddha Educational Academy Ltd in 1997, NGMC has been able to institutionalize its name among the prestigious medical colleges of Nepal and outside. This Medical College has campuses in three places. The Basic Science Campus is at Chisapani, an eye-soothing place at the foot-hill of the Himalayas. The Main Teaching Hospital is in Kohalpur, Banke by the side of the East-West highway. The Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital, offering highly specialized and sophisticated services such as Plastic Surgery, Neuro-Surgery, Cardiology, and Urology, among others is close to the Indian border (Rupaidiya, Bahraich, UP) and is only 180 kilometers from Lucknow which is connected to the college by a highway. The Medical College is affiliated with Kathmandu University and is fully recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and Srilankan Medical Council and figures in the Medical School directory of the World Health Organization (WHO). It offers MBBS courses and post-graduate courses in most of the disciplines. Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Magister of Chirurgiae (MCh) programs will be launched by the college once the preparations for it get over. Our students have done us proud by passing the USMLE Exam of the USA and by securing top positions in the screening tests of the Medical Council of India.NGMC is fully equipped to provide accommodations to the students in self-contained comfortable rooms. The college has been consistently working to bring together a faculty of highly qualified health academics and I feel that we have succeeded in it so far. Producing graduates who will have an impact on academia, society, and the nation is what Nepalgunj Medical College is best at doing. We want to give continuity to this success of ours and eventually develop the college into a university. With the Deemed University, we intend to serve the overall higher education sector of the country, not just medical education.  Regards,Prof. Dr. S.M. History

In 1993, the government of Nepal made a decision to ensure that medical education and healthcare become accessible and affordable in rural and underdeveloped regions of the nation. With this objective in mind, Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) was founded to help the government achieve its goal by providing quality health services and medical education in the Western region, which have historically been lagging in terms of health services and education. We have played a significant role in upgrading the health system in the region by providing quality medical education, services, and research opportunities to students and healthcare professionals since last 27 years. Lord Buddha Educational Academy Ltd (LBEA), Nepalgunj was permitted to start a Medical College in a rural set up near Nepalgunj, the biggest industrial city in the mid-western region of Nepal, only 6 kilometers north of the Indo-Nepal Border town Rupaidiha (Bahraich, U.P.) Thus “Nepalgunj Medical College'' deriving its name from the city of Nepalgunj was established under the agreement with the Government of Nepal in 1996. Eventually, NGMC welcomed the first batch of students in December 1997. NGMC is approved and recognized by the Government of Nepal (Ministry of Health and Population, and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology), Medical Education Commission and is affiliated with Nepal Medical Council and Kathmandu University. The first batch completed its course in July 2002. Ever since then, the college has produced thousands of graduates who have made a great contribution to improving the health sector of Nepal, and abroad.

Sports We have made sure that sports and physical activity are given due importance along with academics. To ensure this, football, cricket, basketball and volleyball grounds have been constructed in close proximity to the education blocks at both Chisapani and Kohalpur campuses. Additionally, indoor recreational facilities have been established to cater to the needs of students. In collaboration with SWC, the college hosts an array of annual sports competitions. These events not only provide students with opportunities to unwind but also foster teamwork and a sense of camaraderie among them. Extra-Curricular Activities Extracurricular activities play a vital role in shaping the overall personality of students and breaking the monotony of classroom learning. We, at NGMC, understand the significance of extracurricular activities and encourage our students to participate in various programs beyond the curriculum. We associate ourselves with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to organize health camps, which provide valuable exposure to our students. Our college also hosts cultural programs and other events that help students rejuvenate and stay motivated. By doing so, we aim to create well-rounded individuals who are equipped to face the challenges of the real world. Vacations/holidays On-campus stay is mandatory for all students at NGMC. However, in exceptional cases where a student needs to return home, they must obtain prior approval from the principal by submitting a letter from their parents. The student must also inform the hostel warden before leaving the campus. This rule is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of students, while also maintaining a conducive learning environment.
