MBBS Program


The MBBS program at Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) is affiliated to Kathmandu University. The MBBS program aims to produce high quality medical professionals who on completion of five and a half year (including one-year internship) study will be competent enough to carry out the clinical, preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative roles of a physician.

The MBBS program offered by NGMC in affiliation to Kathmandu University is:

  • Student-centered (rather than teacher centered)
  • Integrated (rather than discipline based)
  • Problem-based (rather than subject based)
  • Systematic (rather than apprentice based)
  • Community-oriented (rather than hospital centered)
  • Electives embodied (rather than standard program-oriented)

NGMC’s MBBS program includes a course study of 4.5 years along with a year long internship. The whole course will comprise nine semesters.

Part I: Basic Science (or Pre-Clinical) 

This part of the course runs from the 1st to 4th semester. It spans over 2 years’ duration. The Subjects taught in the pre-clinical phase of the program are: 

1st year: Semester I

Part II : Clinical

This part of the course is taught from the 5th to 9th semester. This part takes 2.5 years to complete. Subjects taught in this part of the course are:

During the internship program, students are posted in each and every department of the hospital where students learn practical skills.
