History

In 1993, the government of Nepal made a decision to ensure that medical education and healthcare become accessible and affordable in rural and underdeveloped regions of the nation. With this objective in mind, Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) was founded to help the government achieve its goal by providing quality health services and medical education in the Western region, which have historically been lagging in terms of health services and education. We have played a significant role in upgrading the health system in the region by providing quality medical education, services, and research opportunities to students and healthcare professionals since last 27 years.

Lord Buddha Educational Academy Ltd (LBEA), Nepalgunj was permitted to start a Medical College in a rural set up near Nepalgunj, the biggest industrial city in the mid-western region of Nepal, only 6 kilometers north of the Indo-Nepal Border town Rupaidiha (Bahraich, U.P.) Thus “Nepalgunj Medical College'' deriving its name from the city of Nepalgunj was established under the agreement with the Government of Nepal in 1996. Eventually, NGMC welcomed the first batch of students in December 1997. NGMC is approved and recognized by the Government of Nepal (Ministry of Health and Population, and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology), Medical Education Commission and is affiliated with Nepal Medical Council and Kathmandu University. The first batch completed its course in July 2002.

Ever since then, the college has produced thousands of graduates who have made a great contribution to improving the health sector of Nepal, and abroad.
